Shielding my body; this cover
From Chinese factory I see
The pangs of guilt engulfing me
Do they love or hate the owner
Pulling woolen sweater over
Sweat trickles down, giving a kiss
on foreheads as they choke stale air
Inspecting stitches that they miss
Workers need money; they persist
Pulling woolen sweater over
Impatiently bosses they hover
Pricking fingers; crimson, red blood
Begins to trickle then to flood
Bigger than the Delaware's Dover
Pulling woolen sweater over.
*Note: After several discussions about modern-day slavery over the course of a year or so with my pastor, it dawned on me that most of the clothes I own come from countries involved in the hiring of child slaves. This had a huge impact on me, and shook me to my very core.
